Fish bones are difficult to come by because you spend such little time in water. That’s really how you should treat everything that’s lootable, but it’s especially true with the game’s wildlife. Every time you see an animal running around, kill it. The drop rate for animal skin is low, and most of the time, you’ll just be stuck with bony or fatty meat. These are some of the hardest pieces of loot to come by in the game. Use that feature often as you try to beef up your arsenal and get better loot. The map will then point you to the closest place where you may be able to find one. For instance, if you need a Trampler Heart for a piece of gear you have your eye on, you can highlight it at the merchant and create an active quest for it. One of the best features of Horizon Zero Dawn’s loot system is the ability to create an errand based on what you need. This enables you to carry more stuff that can be crafted into ammunition, sold to merchants, or traded for better weapons. When looking to upgrade your carry capacity, be sure to upgrade your resource satchel as fast as possible.
